Humans aren't the only ones to have suffered in the wake of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on March 11, 2011. Many dogs & cats were displaced by the sudden disaster and are in need of new homes and medical attention. Luckily a few animal shelters in Japan are ready to help but they need your support. ARK - founded in 1990 and run by British ex-pat, ARK has experience caring for and placing a high volume of animals after tragedies. In 1995, after the Great Hanshin earthquake, the organization took in and cared for over 600 animals.
Japanese Rescue and Support - This organization is a joint effort between three groups: HEART-Tokushima, Animal Garden Niigata and Japan Cat Network. The organizations are on the scene and taking tips from locals and the internet community to locate displaced animals.
