New York, NY, January 25, 2010 -- Reversing its no-pet policy of the last 70 years, the InterContinental New York Barclay rolls out the red carpet for four-legged friends staying at the great classic hotel. Inaugurating the hotel’s new policy is Westminster Champion and fan-favorite Uno. The first beagle ever to win the WKC Best-in-Show, Uno will check-in to the Barclay on February 12, to enjoy the hotel’s new Royal Pooch Package. Starting at $295, per night, the package includes playful and practical keepsakes and in-room amenities. A portion of the proceeds of each package booked will be donated to the ASPCA.

• $25 per night pet fee waived

The new pet-friendly policy is a return to the hotel’s Roaring 20’s roots, when fashionable ladies often travelled with their furry companions. The new policy is also the Barclay’s response to evolving consumer demands that include the option of taking Fido or Fifi along for the ride! Per availability, restrictions may apply. The Barclay’s Pet policy is as follows:

• Allowable size: 70 pounds or less.

• Cost (outside of pet package) $25 per day or maximum $50 for stay.

• Allowable pets are dogs and cats, other small pets may be considered on a case by case basis.

• $100 security deposit is required.

• $25 charge will be imposed for “accidents”

• Pets must be on a leash or in a container while in the hotel.

• The pet must not be allowed to bark and disturb other guests.
