Unusual Delectables!

When I was a child, I spent summers outdoors.  My mother would shoo my brother and I outside with our dog, Lucky, into the hot and humid afternoons.  We 'spray painted' Lucky with shocking colors of hot pink, neon green, and neon yellow spray chalk.  We let her chase us around the yard, only to be beaten by her swift gait.  And we seemed to think she loved it when we fed her bugs that we dug up as we attempted to make a 'pond' in our backyard.  (Needless to say, the pond idea didn't come to fruition.)

It was also back when we were children that Supersoaker water guns were the coolest toys to have on the block.  We had mounds of water guns.  Big.  Small.  Pink.  Blue.  Single-barreled.  Double-barreled.  You name it-we had it!  After hours of water gun fights, we lazily left our water weapons basking in the hot sun and ran indoors to cool off with some cherry Kool-Aid & Push Ups.  Without even thinking about our yellow lab's odd diet of high heeled shoes and her interest in tearing up everything in sight, we spent the rest of the carefree afternoon indoors.  Only later did we discover orange plastic shards strewn across the driveway.  Lucky had devoured our small, orange water gun.  Dad.was.UPSET.  For days we found orange specks throughout the yard and after some unusual behavior, we took our beloved garbage disposal to the vet.  She had punctured her esophagus.  With some medicine and time she made a speedy recovery.  And we learned our lesson-never leave water guns (or anything for that matter) out in the yard unattended!

Dogs & cats eat the craziest things!  Our childhood dog, Lucky, was indeed pretty lucky.  And so are some of the other pets that CBS featured in an article and news clip, 'You Will Not Believe What Your Pet Eats'.  Take a look for yourself.  Who knows what prompts these cats & dogs to consume knives, needles, diamond rings, and pencils.  I guess they only know for sure!
